Regardless of what most people believe, plumbers do not only specialise within the supply and sanitation of our water but they are also trained in gas piping work, aswell as refrigeration and air conditioning. Since the nineteenth century, plumbers have been working to improve and develop the plumbing industry as a whole. Having originated around 2700BC, the plumbing industry only really began to grow at a fast pace in the eighteen hundreds. Hence our modern day usage of seperate underground sewage and water systems, and the disuse of lead piping. Nowadays less toxic materials are put into use such as copper. We also now have drain and vent services, and no longer rely solely on gravity for our water supplies.
